I’ve written about my evolving interest in natural beauty before, but unfortunately, it’s not a topic I have much of a right to speak on. The majority of my skin-care and makeup regimens are still filled with mainstream beauty products.
I’m not embarrassed, but I know I could do better. (We all could, TBH.) So to start, I slowly began incorporating the RMS Beauty Signature Set into my routine because it’s green, clean, and totally chic. It’s a compilation of the brand’s best-selling products, which usually come in little glass pots, sized down into a TSA-friendly, palm-sized palette. Inside the five-product quad you’ll find something for your lips, cheeks, and eyes — i.e., bronzer, blush, highlighter, lipstick, and lip balm — in a number of rich, pigmented shades. There are two Signature Set options — the Best of Beauty–winning Pop Collection, and the Mod Collection.
Inside the Mod Collection’s white, minimalistic-style quad you’ll find, starting from the top left: the Master Mixer, a shimmery rose-gold cream, which can be dabbed on the top of cheekbones, lids, or even your lips for a subtle glossy sheen. Next is an RMS OG product, the Living Luminizer, a translucent pearl highlighter that gives skin that coveted dewy-but-not-shimmery finish.
In the bottom left, you’ll find one of the Lip2Cheek shades, Smile, which is a poppy-coral color that gives cheeks that just-pinched effect when rubbed on the apples (it imparts a similar rosy hue on lips as well). There’s also Spell, a dusty rose shade that gives lips a slightly deeper-than-natural pink hue. I like to dab it on lips, like a tint, for more of a lived-in look. And finally, there’s the Lip & Skin Balm in Simply Cocoa, which, just as its name suggests, is a hydrating coconut-oil-based balm that packs a one-two punch for both lips and other dry, cracked areas of your skin (think hands, cuticles, elbows).
As for the winning Pop Collection, this five-shade quad is filled with bright pink and red hues. Starting from the top left, there’s the Buriti Bronzer, a sheer chocolate shade, and the Magic Luminizer, a peachy champagne highlighter, both of which give cheekbones a natural contour. And for the lips, there are two options: the Lip2Cheek in Demure, a muted rose with cool undertones, and Beloved, a bright poppy red. The final pan in the palette is the nourishing Lip & Skin Balm in Simply Vanilla, which is made with coconut oil and cocoa seed butter to keep lips, face, and hands hydrated.
Now, weeks after cracking open the RMS Beauty Signature Set, I can’t leave the house without it. It slowly sneaked its way into my heart — and my makeup bag — with its natural ingredients, but stayed thanks to its badass formulas. See, I’m making baby steps — one awesome palette at a time.
