Now that foundations are finally focusing on creating more inclusive shade ranges, it’s a race to be the most inclusive. Huda Beauty and Rihanna’s Fenty are two of the buzziest names in the game —
both with admirably wide shade ranges. But who takes the inclusive beauty cake? YouTubers are determined to find out.
Fenty Beauty made waves when it launched this fall with 40 glorious shades of foundation. Not to be left out, Huda Beauty followed suit with the brand’s #FauxFilter foundation, which dropped with a super-inclusive campaign to show off the 30 different shades. Though not an explicit rivalry, the internet still wants to know who the winner is.
To put each foundation range to the test, YouTubers have been pitting the brands against each other for side-by-side comparisons, judging each formula on coverage, shade match, and finish. As Revelist reports, there are some interesting verdicts.
The Case for Huda Beauty
If you’re a lover of dewy skin, Huda Beauty’s #FauxFilter Foundation ($40) is for you. The vloggers seem to like this finish the best. Several YouTubers note that when put to the test, Fenty’s matte finish formula tends to settle in smile lines, while Huda’s formula achieves that IRL Instagram filter look. Vlogger Aysha Begum also notes that Huda’s formula is buildable and can double as a concealer.
The Case for Fenty Beauty
On the flip side, some vloggers preferred the lighter matte finish of Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34). “Huda is definitely not an everyday foundation but Fenty is,” said YouTuber Raye Boyce.
On top of that, those 10 extra shades really do make a difference. YouTuber Tonii Antoinette couldn’t find a perfect match with Huda, so despite the Instagram-ready finish, had to declare the slightly more inclusive Fenty the winner.
The Winner Is…
The bottom line: It all comes down to your favorite finish. The internet seems to agree if you’re looking for an Instagram-worthy glow or heavy coverage, Huda is your gal. But if you prefer a more natural look and a spot on shade match, it’s Fenty for the win.
