Beyoncé and Jay Z couldn’t have looked happier posing together on the rapper’s 48th birthday in — of all places — an elevator. According to People, the power couple attended a special screening of controversial director Woody Allen’s latest film, Wonder Wheel (which stars Jay Z’s “Holy Grail” collaborator Justin Timberlake) on December 4.
You’ll recall the infamous Elevator Incident, which happened shortly after the 2014 Met Gala when a security cam video leaked online of Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange an an elevator together. The footage showed Solange apparently agitated and angry with Jay Z — she was seen kicking and yelling at him while he backed away and Beyoncé stood calmly to the side. The rumor, now seemingly confirmed, was that Solange was angry with Jay Z over rumors of his infidelity. Jay-Z recently admitted that he cheated on Beyoncé during their nine-year marriage.
Now, after two albums (Lemonade and 4:44, both of which lyrically address infidelity) and two new babies (twins Rumi and Sir), it looks like the family has put it all behind them as they smiled happily from the lift. “Hurry up, come get it,” Jay Z reportedly called out to photographers during the photo op. For what it’s worth, Solange and Jay Z are on good terms as well; he’s described his sister-in-law as “like his sister.”
Beyoncé’s dress, though, made the loudest statement about the couple’s current state: block white letters spelled out UNITY on her arm. Not only did the power couple seem happy to be in each other’s company, they also looked great in complementary outfits. Beyoncé’s fuchsia lipstick picked up the warm tone of Jay Z’s maroon suit, and with the light yellow in her dress plus her deep blue stole, the couple was basically a muted primary colors palette in the best way. Both as a couple and sartorially, The Carters are back on the same page. Now let’s just pray they tour together again.
