Kylie Jenner is not new to controversy, especially when it comes to her beauty and fashion empire. Though she still remains wildly successful, there have been plenty of bumps along the way, including questions of quality, copyright infringement, high pricing, and more. Just this week, Kylie posted photos of her upcoming concealer launch and came under fire from folks accusing her of copying Fenty Beauty’s wide range of shades. It seems like with each new launch comes more issues, and now, Jenner is having an issue with the exuberantly high pricing of her Silver Series Brush collection.

According to Kylie Cosmetics, the collection includes 16 “must-have” luxury brushes and comes with a silver brush roll. It has everything from a small smudge brush to a large powder brush, and everything in between — however, to get the complete set, you’ll have to shell out a whopping $360, and that’s where things get a little dicey. King Kylie took to Twitter on Saturday to defend her price point by comparing her brush set to sets from other beauty brands, and people were just NOT having it.

In her tweet, she wrote, “I always fight for the lowest price on all my products. Here are some other real brush lines for reference.” She included screenshots of brush sets from other beauty brands, including the Elite Mirror 10 Brush Set from Artis Brush ($360), The Essential Brush Collection from Kevyn Aucoin ($650), and a Black Brush Set from M.A.C. ($147). While her goal was to show that there were other brush sets at similar (or higher) price points on the market, she seemed to fail spectacularly, if you look at some of the replies.

Many people pointed out that that kind of price point has to be earned by years in the makeup industry and repeated quality. Others said she simply needed to say what (besides her name) made them worth that much, and maybe she’d have a case to charge that much. Others still said that her target audience likely couldn’t afford them even if the quality DID justify the price, and she should rethink the set entirely. There sure were a lot of opinions, so if you dare read the thread, you should grab some popcorn first.
