Would you swipe right on the real Slim Shady? According to a new interview with Vulture, Eminem started dating not too long after his divorce, and he was looking for love in all the same places we were — Tinder and Grindr.
“It’s tough,” he said, when asked if he dated. “Since my divorce, I’ve had a few dates and nothing’s panned out in a way that I wanted to make it public. Dating’s just not where I’m at lately.” When asked whether he was finding such dates on Tinder, the rapper answered in the affirmative. “And Grindr,” he told Vulture while laughing, implying this was presumably a joke (albeit a confusing one, if so). “I also used to go to strip clubs…What can I say? Going to strip clubs is how I was meeting some chicks. It was an interesting time for me.”
Unfortunately, it seems as though these endeavors are a thing of the past. Since he wasn’t referring to this so-called “interesting time” in the present tense, it appears as though Eminem no longer spends his free time supporting local sex workers and swiping through hot singles in his area. At the same time, the rapper made it clear that he was doing just fine on his own. “Am I lonely? No, I’m good,” he told Vulture when asked about the desolation of fame. “Thanks for asking though.”
So while it doesn’t look like any of us mere mortals will be matching with Eminem anytime soon, this revelation does beget several interesting questions. For example, did Eminem ever utilize Tinder’s much-maligned “Superlike” function? Was he using Grindr in its newly hetero-friendly form (though his sexuality is, of course, nobody’s business but his own)? The most important question, however, is this: For the love of God, did his bio reference mom’s spaghetti? That’s all he’d have to do to get a right-swipe, in my humble opinion.
