Wait, don’t throw away your dried-up eyeliner just yet. It still has more life to live. Sure, it may be useless in the winged liner department, but an Algerian makeup artist just introduced us to a brand-new way to use the old product. Manella posted a video on Instagram of herself using a dried-out liquid liner to fill in her brows, and the genius tip is going viral.
After brushing up her brows with a spoolie, Manella takes the dry liner to draw on the shape of her arches. Then, she smudges the ink upward into her brows before brushing her brows downward. Next, she fills in the top part of her brows with the dry liner. Finally, she brushes them again to evenly disperse the liner and goes over them with an angled brush coated with a bit of brow powder like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo. From there, she smooths on concealer around the perimeter of her brows to help highlight and further define them. You can see the whole process in action below.
The result is natural-looking, bold brows. Because the liner is so dried out, it dispenses just the right amount of pigment, so the product doesn’t look too harsh.
One of Manella’s followers called @zah_x_raa noted that she does the same thing because brow fillers often appear to be too red on her black brows. The liner has gray undertones to it that help flatter her dark hair. Noted.
Dried-out makeup can be helpful in a pinch in more than just this clever way. I’ve been known to use the congealed foundation stuck inside the cap as a concealer. Dry mascara also works better than fresh mascara, if you ask me. See, you might want to rethink saying goodbye to your seemingly dead makeup. It might not be its time.
