This month, cosmic activity isn’t just powerful, it’s historic. For the past seven years, Uranus — the planet associated with revolution, technology, and progress — has been occupying fiery Aries, the sign associated with impulsivity and individuality. During Uranus’s journey across Aries, social action spotlighted personal experiences (the #MeToo movement is an example) and the Internet celebrated selfie culture. Now, Uranus is changing gears. On May 15, for the first time in 84 years, Uranus moves into Taurus until 2025. Uranus was last in Taurus from 1935 to 1942, and for many of us, this is a once-in-a-lifetime transit (it won’t occur again until the year 2102). Long story short, cosmic warrior, it’s a big deal.

So what should we expect when Uranus occupies Taurus? On a societal level, we see major shifts within the domains Taurus governs, including food, finances, and authority. On May 15, four celestial bodies occupy Taurus (Mercury, the planet of communication, moves into Taurus on May 13, and a new moon in Taurus also occurs on May 15). Moreover, three other planets (Mars, Saturn, and Pluto) will be in like-minded earth sign Capricorn, creating an incredibly rare and powerful concentration of earth energy. Taurus and Capricorn are fueled by logic and pragmatism, but with such a heavy presence in the sky, don’t be surprised if you find yourself rebelling against personal or societal constraints midmonth.

Fortunately, we gain perspective as the month progresses, with Mars (the planet that symbolizes action and drive) moving into Aquarius on May 16. Air sign energy creates movement, allowing us to relinquish control and consider multiple perspectives. Although Aquarius is known to have its own stubborn streak, this transit encourages humanitarianism and social reform. When the planet of war occupies this progressive sign, we are motivated by the greater good.

The sun and Mercury also move into an air sign on May 20 and May 29, respectively, kicking off Gemini season. Represented by the twins, Gemini energy is playful, social, and curious. It’s important to remember that Gemini is associated with duality, not duplicity. It encourages us to explore the multidimensionality of people, places, and experiences. This is a great time to make new friends, explore unusual hobbies, or experiment with different forms of self-expression (perhaps it’s even time for a tattoo).

The month concludes with a full moon in Sagittarius on May 29. The moon is connected to our inner world, so the celestial satellite’s lunation guides our emotional experiences. During a full moon, the darkness is illuminated by vivid, reflected light. This natural phenomenon offers clarity, exposing all that is usually hidden in the shadows. Embrace the moon’s honesty, and remember, anything revealed during this lunation has always existed: Werewolves are always monsters, but under the full moon’s glow we can see their fangs.
